We charter from Alba based in a marina just north of Oban.
The first challenge coming from the south of England is however do you get to Oban? It is allegedly north of Watford. This did prove challenging to some of our crew for our first cruise in 2023 who as a result arrived on the Monday for a cruise starting on Saturday! But most importantly they did join Oceanlord safely and happily, eventually.
Fly, train or drive? The train is promising provided you book the Caledonian Sleeper well in advance.

Hebrides cruise: 24 May - 7 June
Michael Cross has chartered an elderly but very seaworthy and well equipped Westerly 38 from Oban for two weeks from 24 May for a cruise around the incomparable Scottish West Coast. It will be the LSYC's third such cruise and some berths are available for the first week. Please contact Michael for further details: michael.cross@lawsociety.org.uk

Our second Hebridean Cruise
A thorough blast of Scottish spring weather didn’t dampen spirits on the Law Society Yacht Club’s second Hebridean cruise. Skipper Michael Cross was joined by five other club stalwarts in the Westerly 38 Clear Blue, chartered from Alba Sailing, near Oban Argyll. Because of the dismal weather forecast we curtailed our offshore ambitions for the week-long cruise, deciding instead to explore some interesting rocky anchorages. However we also managed a couple of days exploring the colourful delights of Tobermory before a night sail home.
The club's first Scottish cruise in 2023, instigated by ex Commodore Nick Lightbody, came to fruition when Michael Cross agreed to take on the responsibility for skippering - supported by Nick, to cruise in waters that he sailed many years before. We were very lucky to benefit from a cold clear northerly - so we had six days of sunny crisp weather. The main aim was to circumnavigate the Isle of Mull and we also took in Coll, Staffa, Iona, Colonsay & Jura.
